We started Moneyed to solve one of our own problems: there were no affordable solutions to help us plan financially for important life events. Access to the tools and knowledge that we needed to engage with our finances were locked away behind expensive paywalls with financial advisors.
We want to ensure everyone has solid financial foundations, feels in control of their current finances, and can make informed financial decisions for the future. We believe the solution is a combination of financial workshops to bridge the financial literacy gap, followed by access to financial tools to action and implement learnings.
We want to use tech and data science for social good. We are completely independent and do not make money by recommending products and services or from selling data.
My background is in both data science and business. I previously worked as a Lead Data Scientist at BCG and have a PhD in Particle Physics from Imperial College London. I have nine years experience of applying machine learning techniques to large amounts of data, enabling companies to make informed decisions and scientists to make world-first measurements.
I'm passionate about data science for social good. I volunteer with DataKind, at their Office Hours and DataDives, to help social change organisations make better use of their data. I have also worked with Data Science for Social Good.
My background is in product, tech, and finance; I was previously the Head of Engineering at Octopus Wealth, a financial advice and wealth management company, and before that VP Engineering at Smarkets. I have a PhD in Particle Physics from the University of Oxford.
I have an interest in open source development, especially Python web servers. I am the author of the popular framework Quart and server Hypercorn, as well as a maintainer of a number of important projects, including Flask.
